VFWCPR 2018/2019 INTAKE & PLAN
In order for fanciers to plan their breeding of this next intake of pigeons we are advising everyone now of some intended changes for the 2018/2019 season and are setting the young bird intake dates.
We are pleased to announce that the total prize money will be USD 1 Million for this coming race season, ending in January 2019.
A limited number of pigeons will be offered for sale after the current Young Bird Programme which ends in January 2018. They are expected to be sold overseas and only top performing pigeons with pedigrees will be exported by VFWCPR for sale.
The balance of the pigeons will be retained after the final race in January 2018 and will be entered into a yearling/ old bird program from May to July 2018. The program will end with a final from 720 km (450 miles). The lofts will be modified to accommodate the old birds and after this final the best performing pigeons with pedigrees will then be sold to best advantage.
The intake of young birds for the 2018/2019 season for European countries will take place into The Dutch Quarantine & Veterinary Services facility in the Netherlands on the following dates;
5th & 6th April 2018
3rd & 4th May 2018
7th & 8th June 2018
5th & 6th July 2018
Intake of birds into the Victoria Falls World Challenge Quarantine facility in Zimbabwe (for all countries) will be on the following dates;
1st to 4th May 2018
4th to 8th June 2018
2nd to 6th July 2018
6th to 10th August 2018
Please plan for the pigeons to arrive in Zimbabwe on the intake dates shown. If the shipment is not ready by these dates the pigeons will need to be held over to the next shipping date.
The details of the rules, extended future prize money list and other changes will be publicised in due course.
Please remember that pigeons that are vaccinated at a young age, 14 days BEFORE sending them to quarantine or holding lofts have a much better chance of survival.

How to enter and get your pigeons to the race:

These pigeon will then be couriered up to JHB to the lofts of Gerhard Van Aswegen.
They will then go into quarantine for the next month and no other birds will be allowed to join that group and Dr. Rob Conradie will vaccinate and medicate them accordingly.
Birds arriving after the batch quarantine date will then join the next batch.
You can send your pigeons directly to Gerhard Van Aswegen -JHB, by direct delivery or by air if you are at an outside town such as Midlands or KZN North coast.
Clearly mark you delivery to Gerhard Van Aswegen and advise him before hand and on the day of the consignment and waybill number.
NOTE: You need to send a copy of your entry form to VFWCPR directly and a copy to myself and a copy to Gerhard with the pigeons being sent each time you send.
MONEY: There is a cost of R250 per pigeon which covers quarantine, permits, vet bills, etc. and transport to Zimbabwe. This R250 can be paid to either myself on delivery in KZN or if delivered directly to Gerhard then payment directly to him.
Entry fees: The entry fees need to be paid directly to the accounts of the VFWCPR as depicted on the entry forms. A copy of the payment must be sent to Karen at firstname.lastname@example.org
Race date 2019 – winter race season with the final race at 620km instead of a heat race at 410km – much better suited to SA pigeons.
