We did not train over the weekend as we felt the birds needed a rest and it was the start of Dove Hunting Season.Birds will be back on the road tomorrow and Wednesday. We did loft fly today and were very happy with the morning exercise. The weather looks a little sketchy later in the week so we will we take it day to day right now.We are hoping to stretch the birds a bit more before the first race.
Saturday morning Kelly and I took a group of 10 birds to Dr.Zollars office to be checked for respiratory as well as canker. One bird out of the ten showed a higher count of canker then the rest. Dr. Zollars stated that the birds look very healthy and show no signs of an upper respiratory.I felt much better on the 2 1/2 hour drive back knowing that the birds were healthy.
This afternoon turned out to be a bit stormy so we took a few moments and recorded a few birds up close and it has been uploaded on our YouTube page.
We have received many calls and emails about the activation fee.Our website does state that the activation fee is due by Sept 1st.This was a tentative date and money will officially be due after the 100 Mile Activation Race.No one is late on paying activation fees yet so no need to panic. We will make sure everyone knows when the money is due.
Also,a reminder that if you are planning on attending the banquet for the final race please take a minute to respond to the survey on our website.Seating for the banquet will be based on the responses,so to ensure everyone is accommodated we will need an accurate count.
